What are primary sources and how can I find them?

Primary sources are original records containing firsthand information.  They may be in the form of original research reports, diaries, speeches, original manuscripts, photographs, newspaper articles of a historic event, and so on.

 To find a primary source on your topic, try looking in our new Gale Virtual Reference Library collection.  These eBooks (electronic books) contain primary sources on such topics as immigration, marriage and the family, civil rights, and more.   Simply click on the following link and enter your keywords:
