On July 1st, a significant change occurred with the library databases. We had access to many EBSCO periodical databases, six of which we lost access to on July 1st; simultaneously, we gained access to several new Gale-Cengage databases. The EBSCO databases listed below were funded by the Missouri State Library. After a required RFP process earlier this year, Gale won the bid for the database contract.
While there are similarities between the EBSCO and Gale databases, there are differences in both content and functionality. We are familiarizing ourselves with these new resources and developing tutorials and training materials to make the transition easier for everyone.
EBSCO databases that were discontinued on July 1, 2009:
- Academic Search Elite
- Alt-Health Watch
- Business Source Premier
- Health Source Nursing
- Library & Information Science Abstracts
- Regional Business News
*We will not lose access to EBSCO’s CINAHL, ERIC, GreenFile, History Reference Center, or Teacher Reference Center as we do not receive these through the state library.
Gale databases that will be offered on July 1, 2009 are listed below. You can now preview these new databases when on campus.
- Academic One File and General OneFile
- Business & Company Resource Center
- Health & Wellness Resource Center
- Health Reference Center Academic
- Small Business Resource Center
- Custom Newspapers
- Plus additional subject collections
