“TED is a small nonprofit devoted to ideas worth spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing people together from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then it’s scope has become ever broader.” (Ted.com)
TED.com provides access to over 700 of the best TED talks from TED performances for free. You get exposure to all kinds of interesting ideas and get to hear from people like Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Jamie Oliver, David Blaine, Bill Gates, and Bill Clinton. It’s amazing the kinds of information and inspiration you can stumble upon just by exploring the website.
As mentioned previously, the TED mission is the spreading of ideas. On the website it explains:
We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we’re building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.
