Women’s History Month 2012

March is Women’s History Month – the perfect time to celebrate and honor the roles women have played throughout history, both in America and around the world.  The 2012 theme is: Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment.  The Women’s History Month website describes this theme in the following way: “Although women now outnumber men in American colleges nationwide, the reversal of the gender gap is a very recent phenomenon. The fight to learn was a valiant struggle waged by many tenacious women—across years and across cultures—in our country.”

For more information, check out the National Women’s History Project.  Be sure to take a look at their “Resources” page.

You can also read the Presidential Proclamation regarding Women’s History month.  You can find it here.

There are a number of events going on here at SCC in honor of Women’s History Month.  You can find those events here.
