2014 Poet Laureate: Charles Wright

very good

The newest national Poet Laureate has been announced and it is poet, Charles Wright. The Library of Congress explains the individual in this position “serves as the nation’s official lightning rod for the poetic impulse of Americans. During his or her term, the Poet Laureate seeks to raise the national consciousness to a greater appreciation of the reading and writing of poetry.”

We’ll certainly be adding work by Wright to our collection. To learn a little more about the poet you can check out the following articles from NPR, The New York Times, and PBS. There’s also a list of online resources about him provided by the Library of Congress.

Congratulations to Charles Wright! Pick up some poetry and read it to celebrate 🙂
