#ThrowbackThursday – Remembering the Card Catalog

Most of you might be too young to remember today’s #tbt. But back in the day libraries used a card catalog. Now the library catalog is available online and you can easily search for books and movies by title, subject, keywords… all kinds of ways. But before it became electronic, searching in the catalog required a certain amount of finesse. Information about materials in the library collection were placed on small index cards that were shelved in drawers for you to browse through:

We held on to our old card catalogs and have them safely tucked away serving other purposes.

We still get a little nostalgic for them and it has actually become pretty trendy to repurpose these pieces of furniture and use them for interior decorating.
